To quote the Clockwork Orange, this is the real country dark. The first aspect of Darkness 4K to strike the eye is the reversal of detail. The sky and the moon are laid out very precisely whilst the landscape, presented as the foreground, is vague and poorly lit. It is an apparent tie-in into the theme of real, actual darkness. In the night when nothing illuminates the countryside, the sky is bright; in this case to the point of being grey.
The mountains remain completely dark as does the river between them. It feels as if something is out of place… and it is.
Is it the weird river formation that’s completely opaque? It might as well be a torrent of mist or of some super-cooled gas not naturally occurring on Earth.
Seeing how clouds curve in the moon’s gravitational field suggests we are indeed looking on another planet; a surprising deduction considering how Earth-like the landscape seems.
